I can’t believe it’s already been two weeks since I’ve left home. I miss my people, but life on mission is absolutely incredible. The days are long & exhausting, but 100% worth it.

We have been busy working around the property, building steps, moving furniture, painting walls, etc. And busy at the park prepping for and painting a ginormous mural.

On Wednesday this past week, I went to the park with the expectation of painting primer on walls. We have limited time to work on and finish the mural, so it was all ands on deck and we didn’t really have time to spare. If you know me at all, you know I’m naturally a hard worker. I like to be productive and see progress on the things I work on. So, of course, I set out to paint and work hard that day. However about ten minutes into painting, I heard a few other teammates playing guitar and singing in the center of the park. I’m pretty drawn to music, so I started singing from where I was at & continued working. Shortly after, I felt the Lord tell me to stop working, go to the center of the park, and worship Him. When hearing this, my first thought was “we have to get this wall done, I need to work.” And God basically said that He will finish the wall and my only job was to sit back and praise Him.

So, I went. I put down the paint brush and walked toward the music. I began to sing and worship with a few other friends and it was such a sweet, beautiful time. A few cool things happened as well…

  1. My friend, Annie, talked to me about dance and gently encouraged me to continue walking in that gift.
  2. Tymon played two original songs for us. They’re incredible.
  3. A man came over and talked to us (in Spanish) for about an hour. Even though we couldn’t totally understand him, it was neat to just to give him a safe place to talk.
  4. Even with all of us barely knowing any Spanish, we were still able to whip out THREE worship songs to sing for him in Spanish!
  5. I sang a song with Micah! We all know I’m not the greatest singer lol but I was the only one that knew the song he wanted to play, so Micah called me out of my comfort zone and I sang.
  6. After this day, I decided I want to learn to play (at least a tiny bit) of guitar! So, shout out to Ashley in advance for teaching me;) can’t wait to see what the Lord does with it.

By the end of our work hours, I looked up and the wall was completely scrubbed, primed, and ready to be painted!! I stepped back and God stepped in. Huge thank you to everyone that scrubbed and painted all day long.  Thank you for filling in when I stepped out.  Thank you for allowing me to rest in where God had me.

I don’t necessarily have a main point to this story except that God is really cool and so gentle in His teaching.

Love y’all! Thanks for keeping me in your prayers:)

  1. I love hearing about your experiences! What an amazing growing and learning time for you. Hebrews 6:10 says God remembers you and the love and work you show for others.

  2. I’m sitting here crying while reading about your awesome experiences. I love you beautiful daughter. Btw, I used to play the guitar and lead worship with children. Lol! Not many people know that about me. You are amazing!
