World Race Training Camp: A Series

Part Seven: Final Moments

*Please note: majority of this was written while I was on the plane/at the airport, heading home from Georgia*

At the airport:

Somewhere between noon & boarding the plane…

While at the airport waiting for flights, our group got smaller and smaller as people left until it ended with just me. Alone in the airport and about to go back to my empty house. I felt sad having to leave my new family. We just united a week ago and were already having to separate. There might some zoom calls and smaller meetups, but it’s just not the same as having all 44 of us under one roof. I couldn’t process it and needed closure.

Beginning/mid flight:

5:36pm

Something clicked when my plane left the gate. It was the sunset. It was beautiful. A perfect representation of the end of the trip and how amazing the time here had been.

7:48pm

As we took of and were flying to Texas, the sun never went all the way down. We were traveling from east to west, which means we’re literally chasing the sunset. I’d been enjoying the orangey-pink view for over two hours and even mid flight, it was still there. As I was sitting there on the plane, writing this, I realized that God was saying there’s more to come. His beauty is infinite. And the squad will last even longer than that sunset. We will meet again in a few short months and pick up right where we left off.

We should be landing soon:

8:25pm

The sky was still burning red and orange. As we chased the sunset, getting closer to my home, I couldn’t help but thank God for such a creative way of providing closure for me for this weekend.

8:45pm

The sun has finally set, our plane is descending toward the runway, and I’m reflecting back to the airport. Thinking of when I told one of my sisters that this week was so good, but I needed some sort of closure for it… Oh how He provides…

*Last post of this series! Although it won’t even come close to what training camp was actually like, I hope it gave a little glimpse into my perspective and some of the things we experienced. Hope you enjoyed it. Don’t forget to subscribe:)
